Social Access Bursaries for children
Flute Pupil at Rouge Bouillon
With 64 bursaries currently offered at Rouge Bouillon School, Samares School, and La Passerelle School, the Bursary Scheme aims to provide a unique opportunity to children who would not otherwise have access to it.
The “Bursaries Access Scheme” was launched in 2022, providing music lesson bursaries for pupils who are in receipt of Jersey Premium Funding and who have been identified by their class teachers as likely to benefit from this additional support.
The objective of this scheme was to give pupils who would not normally be able to afford music lessons the opportunity to learn an instrument, not because they were considered to be likely to become the next concert virtuoso but because their teachers felt that it would make a real difference to their lives.

Interactive Schools Workshops - 2025
Music in Action’s interactive school workshops have flourished this year, with more than 120 sessions bringing world-class music directly into classrooms across Jersey. Pupils enjoyed a diverse range of creative experiences — from a vibrant Makaton-based workshop with Harriet Mackenzie, to inspiring vocal sessions led by Suzi Digby, immersive jazz-themed workshops with the Tim Kliphuis Trio and Jason Rebello, and intimate string-quartet sessions with players from the Jersey Chamber Orchestra. These workshops offered hands-on learning, live musical moments, and meaningful engagement, sparking curiosity and nurturing a deeper appreciation for music among young people across the island.
5000+ children inspired by Music in Action’s Outreach Programme in 2025
Over 5,000 Children Inspired by Music in Action’s Outreach Programme in 2025!
In 2024, Music in Action proudly reached and inspired more than 5,000 children through our Outreach Programme — a year filled with creativity, connection, and joy.
From inspiring school workshops and interactive performances to hands-on musical experiences led by professional artists, our outreach events brought music to life for young people across the island. This year, our programme reached new heights with 150+ workshops and activities delivered across schools and community spaces.
Among the highlights, we presented 30 care-home music sessions sponsored by LV Care Group, welcomed pupils to an electrifying Jason Rebello school concert in May 2025, and offered two exclusive school-only performances at the Opera House, completely free of charge for all pupils and schools. We were also proud to see over 800 children come together for Jersey Sings in June 2025, filling the island with the unforgettable sound of a mass choir.
Whether it was a child hearing a live orchestra for the first time, a class joining in a singing workshop, or hundreds of voices singing together in harmony, each moment helped build confidence, spark imagination, and nurture a lasting love of the arts.
We believe music should be accessible to everyone — especially the next generation — and we are deeply grateful to our supporters, artists, educators, and partners who helped bring this vision to life.
Music in Action - Young Artist Programme
The Music in Action Young Artist’s Development Programme (MAYAP) has been launched to nurture the most talented young Jersey artists who wish to make their career in music through training and performance opportunities.
Focusing on the disadvantaged, and talented musicians, the program looks to help train and develop a new generation of celebrated Jersey performers, to learn to perform at the highest standards around the world. In recognition and gratitude for their generous support..
